TEAMS & SCHEDULE

Our junior members train on small astro pitches in Kinvara and Athenry, supported by dedicated coaches and volunteers. The club has enjoyed considerable success at underage level, most notably winning the U14A and U16B Connacht League titles in 2023.
We are also proud to see increasing numbers of our players representing Connacht Hockey at interprovincial level, with several U16 and U18 players selected for Irish squads — an outstanding achievement for a small rural club.
Follow our junior teams and stay up to date with matches and achievements on Facebook and Instagram.
At the moment, KHC does not have capacity to enrol boys into the club due to lack of facilities but there is a real appetite for this to change once we have opened our own pitch in Kinvara. This will allow boys to take up hockey whether they play other sports or none! Hockey is a sport, unlike many other sports, where there are teams for all levels of players.

Adult hockey has been a cornerstone of Kinvara Hockey Club since 1980. The club has a proud tradition of competing in the Connacht League and National Cup competitions and has enjoyed significant success at provincial level.
Kinvara has won the Connacht Cup on numerous occasions, most recently in the 2022 season.

Transition Year (TY) Hockey Programme
In collaboration with Seamount College, Transition Year students participate in a TY programme focused on coaching and hockey development. Students then deliver this programme to local primary schools, helping to promote hockey and inspire the next generation of players in the community.

The core values of Connacht Hockey guide everything we do:
RESPECT – TRADITION – FAIR PLAY – COMPETITIVE – ENJOYMENT
The development of a new pitch facility at Kinvara will allow the club to host interprovincial training sessions and matches. With the current scarcity of hockey facilities in the west, this will provide a vital resource for players across the province, supporting the growth of hockey in the region.

No specialist equipment is required — apart from a gum shield and runners, all equipment is provided by the club. Many mums and dads have even been known to borrow their children’s sticks to get involved and enjoy a bit of exercise.
The real highlight of social hockey is the opportunity to meet new people, enjoy gentle, fun exercise, and share plenty of laughs in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Inclusive Hockey is one of our most cherished programmes at Kinvara Hockey Club. First trialled in 2023, the club hosted a series of sessions designed for people with a variety of disabilities.
The feedback from participants, their families, and our volunteer coaches has been overwhelmingly positive. These sessions offer a mix of skill development, gentle exercise, fun, and even a little healthy competition, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone to enjoy hockey.

Include:
- Intro to Hockey – A5-week introduction to hockey for senior infants and first class, the perfect way to start your journey with one of the West’s strongest clubs.
This course is a fun and supportive way for young players to learn core skills, build confidence, and prepare for schools hockey at Seamount College, while becoming part of a welcoming club rooted in community and inclusion.
